G.I. Joe: 3.75 Division Prelude

This was the mini episode that started it all, and was shot entirely in my parent's attic. Director's commentary after the last photo below and click the pictures for a clearer view of the text.

The main point of this episode was to quickly establish how (for lack of a better term) screwed my G.I. Joe toys were- and inadvertently it was all my fault! Over the years I had gotten out of G.I. Joe and sold off stuff to local collectibles stores or to my friend Dave (and that was to basically help him build his army for "The War" he had with his friend Rich). This really depleted the number of G.I. Joe toys I had, but Cobra always seemed to hang on to more stuff.

Then I started following @ToysAndTomfoolery over on Instagram and saw he began a series of posts covering old 1990's 3.75" G.I. Joe figures. I don't know if it was the poses, the comedy, the excellent photos of the figures or a combination of all that, but in April of 2021 something *clicked* in my head and I had realized selling off so many of my Joe toys was a HUGE mistake.

This prompted me to start rebuilding my collection and from April of 2021 to about September 2021 my Instagram page became hyper focused on 3.75," vintage G.I. Joe toys. I did whatever I had to in order to get them. I traded away toys I no longer used or wanted to put towards the purchases of vehicles and figures, and in doing so really learned what toys I truly enjoyed, and which ones I was just holding onto out of fear of never seeing them again.

After that, the idea for the comic came into being and I tied it into my role-playing game, The Secret World of Toyeboxia as a way to help promote the game and explain alot of the lore through the filter of G.I. Joe action figures.

So between May 23rd 2021 and September 18th 2021, I cranked out thirty two, 10-panel episodes- that's over three hundred photographs of content in a roughly 4 month period.

Needless to say I was a bit obsessed. I took a long hiatus and didn't post the 33rd episode until July of 2022 and the 34th episode on the very last day of 2022- a mere 30 minutes before the bells chimed midnight. This year I am hoping to put more episodes up as I have enough photos to make at least 6 more before I need to start doing photo shoots again.

Stay tuned here often as I get all the episodes transferred over and I love talking about it, so feel free to comment below with any  questions.

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 35: "To go boldly..."

Man a LOT of time has lapsed between putting new episodes of the comic up hasn't it?  Episode 34 debuted on July 7th 2022 and episode 35 wouldn't debut until December 31st 2022- and exactly thirty minutes from midnight to boot!  Alot of insanity has cropped up in my personal life prohibiting me from doing more photo shoots and progressing the story as I wanted it to, but from chaos comes order (so to speak). Episode 35 is monumental because it's the start of a new concurrent story arc that will be taking place parallel to the " The Rescue of Deep Six " story arc I've been showing since 2021.  I'm really enjoying this other story arc and I hope you all well too. As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and check after the last photo for some more Director's commentary! Okay fun Fact? I totally didn't remember that the first episode of this series was titled "To bodly go...", so it's rather appropriate that this ne...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 38: "Running Out of Time"

Hooray I'm being consecutive again!   This week's episode was another episode that was stuck in development limbo for over a year and I'm just proud of myself for taking the time to sit down and script this finally.  I'm just going to get right into the photo comic and wait for the Director's commentary afterwards to talk about everything. As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and enjoy! This episode features photos taken from 2021 and May of 2022 as I had gotten the "Decepticon" base set from Extreme Sets around that time. As I didn't have time to shoot the photos chronologically, I shot episode 33: "The Deep" at the same time as I snapped the photos for this episode and the next two episodes.  So for ME it's been rough to sit on these cool shots for almost a year and a half. I laughed when I got to this episode because this comic has been running for close to 2 and a half years and it took me 39 episodes until th...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 36: "Nervous Man in a Two Dollar Room"

This episode took so much time to finish and it irritated the hell out of me. Those last 3 panels I had gotten severe writers block on and I wasn't sure exactly how to end it.  More on why after the story, as usual click on each photo to expand it for easier reading and then look afterwards for Director's commentary! The title to this episode is a nod to an episode of The Twilight Zone, specifically "A Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room", the $2.00 refering to how much vintage G.I. Joes used to cost. This episode really stuck me at those last 3 panels. Episode 35 and 36 were both shot at a house in the mountains of Pennsylvania that belongs to the family of my wife's friend. As the kitchen wasn't updated since the 1970's, it makes for a really cool and vintage-looking set for the comic to take place in.  Part of the cause of my writer's block is I wasn't sure how long we would be staying here and didn't want to start a shoot here that would last...
