G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 3: "New Recruits (Part 2)"

Part 2 of "New Recruits" starts right now, so get into it! Also: be sure to click each image to expand it for easier reading, and I'll see you below the last photo for some more Director's commentary!

The Trader Toy is just a Lanard C.O.R.P.S. space figure when it was first brought to life, but over the past 30 years, he upgraded his armor with a ton of hi-tech enhancements, with the main one being teleportation. This tech is so sophisticated that Trader can mentally activate it by just making some gestures and thinking about what he wants to teleport and from where. He still has to have seen or touched it for this ability to work, so while it is very powerful- it does have some limitations.

This was a fun episode in particular for me, because I started to talk more about the lore of a living toy as talked about in The Secret World of Toyeboxia RPG that I created. I had made a photo comic series on Instagram before called "The Adventures of the Insideoutsiders" or something to that effect, but it never really got that much interaction. So using something more approachable that people already know, i.e. G.I. Joe figures, it enabled me to reach a much wider audience.

Unlike in other stories, in The Secret World of Toyeboxia RPG not all toys are automatically alive and just pretending not to be. In this universe, toys must be brought to life and only in certain ways (more on that when we get to Episode 10). Stretcher as the team's medic is able to heal injured toys and detect their life force, so he's an invaluable member of the team for that reason alone.

I found this Raider vehicle at Time Warp Toys in Lake Grove NY and traded a bunch of old Transformers for it. I was excited to get it as I've wanted one for years and the driver, Hot Seat, was never removed from his blister bubble despite the vehicle already having been assembled. Once I was able to score this awesome vehicle, I knew I had to put it into the comic ASAP.

One last thing. I rarely talk or do voice work in the little video segments as I prefer to use word bubbles, and that feeling was shot home even more with this episode. I do NOT like how I sound in it and given another chance I would probably just put a text bubble in there LoL.

On to part 3!

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 35: "To go boldly..."

Man a LOT of time has lapsed between putting new episodes of the comic up hasn't it?  Episode 34 debuted on July 7th 2022 and episode 35 wouldn't debut until December 31st 2022- and exactly thirty minutes from midnight to boot!  Alot of insanity has cropped up in my personal life prohibiting me from doing more photo shoots and progressing the story as I wanted it to, but from chaos comes order (so to speak). Episode 35 is monumental because it's the start of a new concurrent story arc that will be taking place parallel to the " The Rescue of Deep Six " story arc I've been showing since 2021.  I'm really enjoying this other story arc and I hope you all well too. As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and check after the last photo for some more Director's commentary! Okay fun Fact? I totally didn't remember that the first episode of this series was titled "To bodly go...", so it's rather appropriate that this ne...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 38: "Running Out of Time"

Hooray I'm being consecutive again!   This week's episode was another episode that was stuck in development limbo for over a year and I'm just proud of myself for taking the time to sit down and script this finally.  I'm just going to get right into the photo comic and wait for the Director's commentary afterwards to talk about everything. As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and enjoy! This episode features photos taken from 2021 and May of 2022 as I had gotten the "Decepticon" base set from Extreme Sets around that time. As I didn't have time to shoot the photos chronologically, I shot episode 33: "The Deep" at the same time as I snapped the photos for this episode and the next two episodes.  So for ME it's been rough to sit on these cool shots for almost a year and a half. I laughed when I got to this episode because this comic has been running for close to 2 and a half years and it took me 39 episodes until th...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 36: "Nervous Man in a Two Dollar Room"

This episode took so much time to finish and it irritated the hell out of me. Those last 3 panels I had gotten severe writers block on and I wasn't sure exactly how to end it.  More on why after the story, as usual click on each photo to expand it for easier reading and then look afterwards for Director's commentary! The title to this episode is a nod to an episode of The Twilight Zone, specifically "A Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room", the $2.00 refering to how much vintage G.I. Joes used to cost. This episode really stuck me at those last 3 panels. Episode 35 and 36 were both shot at a house in the mountains of Pennsylvania that belongs to the family of my wife's friend. As the kitchen wasn't updated since the 1970's, it makes for a really cool and vintage-looking set for the comic to take place in.  Part of the cause of my writer's block is I wasn't sure how long we would be staying here and didn't want to start a shoot here that would last...
