G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode : 26 "Dead Men Tell No Tales (Part 2)"

One of the things I enjoy the most about writing this photo comic is being able to take the obscure, un-liked, un-wanted and generally un-popular G.I. Joe figures and make them my own.

Is it from the Neon 90's? I'll take it. Is it a character who has no real business being in G.I. Joe like Raptor or Crystal Ball? I'll take them and I'll make them bad-ass.

So read on true believers and as usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and check after the last panel for Director's commentary and behind the scenes information!

Torturing Deep Six wasn't fun, but having more time with Interrogator and introducing Crystal Ball into the story was very fun for me. Crystal Ball was always one of those characters that didn't seem like a G.I. Joe character, but he's an awesome action figure. There are rumors that Stephen King (yes that Stephen King) wrote his file card as his son, Owen, was a HUGE G.I. Joe fan, which could explain how weird the character is. Fun Fact? The G.I. Joe Sneak Peek was sculpted in Owen King's likeness along with the card art, the character shares his name and Stephen King's home town of Bangor Maine.

Anyways... Crystal Ball as a Living Toy within the Secret World of Toyeboxia universe is WAY more powerful then his file card could even hint at. Now? He has real telepathic powers as well as power hypnotic abilities that are further amplified by his only accessory, his Hypno-Disc.

This episode was also fun for me for two more reasons: I got to throw Road Pig and Cyrus Borg back in for a little more screen time and I got to show Cobra's Techno-Vipers hard at work!

I love Techno-Vipers. Have for years. I love their colors, their entire design, the wacky tools they come with (which all have names listed to the right of the figure on their cardback) and how they are very useful within the Cobra army.

Eric over at @ToysandTomFoolery on Instagram (also here on his older blog) has showcased Techno-Vipers quite frequently and as his sketches are more comedic, I decided to make mine more "realistic" where they act like real world maintenance people/mechanics. I was a custodian at a school district for MANY years and what came out of my co-workers mouths wasn't that far off from how these Techno-Vipers talk. After all, on their file card they are listed as "Cobra Battlefield Technicians" so they really aren't inventors and are more inclined was being a very sophisticated mechanic.

We are creeping up on being totally complete with re-uploading all the current episodes to this blog, and next episode, episode 27, is of a more somber, character developing nature. I like it alot so go check it out!

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 35: "To go boldly..."

Man a LOT of time has lapsed between putting new episodes of the comic up hasn't it?  Episode 34 debuted on July 7th 2022 and episode 35 wouldn't debut until December 31st 2022- and exactly thirty minutes from midnight to boot!  Alot of insanity has cropped up in my personal life prohibiting me from doing more photo shoots and progressing the story as I wanted it to, but from chaos comes order (so to speak). Episode 35 is monumental because it's the start of a new concurrent story arc that will be taking place parallel to the " The Rescue of Deep Six " story arc I've been showing since 2021.  I'm really enjoying this other story arc and I hope you all well too. As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and check after the last photo for some more Director's commentary! Okay fun Fact? I totally didn't remember that the first episode of this series was titled "To bodly go...", so it's rather appropriate that this ne...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 38: "Running Out of Time"

Hooray I'm being consecutive again!   This week's episode was another episode that was stuck in development limbo for over a year and I'm just proud of myself for taking the time to sit down and script this finally.  I'm just going to get right into the photo comic and wait for the Director's commentary afterwards to talk about everything. As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and enjoy! This episode features photos taken from 2021 and May of 2022 as I had gotten the "Decepticon" base set from Extreme Sets around that time. As I didn't have time to shoot the photos chronologically, I shot episode 33: "The Deep" at the same time as I snapped the photos for this episode and the next two episodes.  So for ME it's been rough to sit on these cool shots for almost a year and a half. I laughed when I got to this episode because this comic has been running for close to 2 and a half years and it took me 39 episodes until th...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 36: "Nervous Man in a Two Dollar Room"

This episode took so much time to finish and it irritated the hell out of me. Those last 3 panels I had gotten severe writers block on and I wasn't sure exactly how to end it.  More on why after the story, as usual click on each photo to expand it for easier reading and then look afterwards for Director's commentary! The title to this episode is a nod to an episode of The Twilight Zone, specifically "A Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room", the $2.00 refering to how much vintage G.I. Joes used to cost. This episode really stuck me at those last 3 panels. Episode 35 and 36 were both shot at a house in the mountains of Pennsylvania that belongs to the family of my wife's friend. As the kitchen wasn't updated since the 1970's, it makes for a really cool and vintage-looking set for the comic to take place in.  Part of the cause of my writer's block is I wasn't sure how long we would be staying here and didn't want to start a shoot here that would last...
