G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 8: "In Search of Power (Part 3)"

The final part of "In Search of Power" story arc is here! And yes since these episodes were published back in 2021 they were all readily available to read years ago so there isn't alot of build up here.

As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing, director commentary is below the last photo and enjoy!

I really loves this story arc, any opportunity I have to add obscure old toys into the mix I will readily take.

In 2021 my family and I had a few rough spots, so I had to sell off a LOT of my vintage pretender Transformers toys to make ends meet. Doing so allowed me to see which toys I really enjoyed and which ones I really wouldn't miss once they were gone. I had roughly 16 different Pretenders and by the time the smoke cleared, I only had kept 3: Snarler, Bristleback and Splashdown. I even sold alot of my childhood Pretenders which I didn't think I'd ever ever do. Snarler & Bristleback (having a line in panel #9 but not seen) were two from when I was a kid and it took me selling off most of them to realize that I love these ones so much.

Sentimentality aside, this episode had a few unused photos and a video too. Let's check them out.

This panel was unused because it didn't fit on Instagram properly and it just didn't look as good as the one I ended up using. Sometimes less is more when storytelling so putting a TON of dialgoue in one panel just clogs things up alot.

This video was supposed to be the one used in panel #7 but I didn't like the way I sounded doing Snarler's voice, so I re-shot it minus the audio dialog. I think unless it's a quick sound like a yell, a scream or a *hi-YAH!* karate move- making voices for the toys doesn't always work.

Two of the last panels were used with the same photo, just zoomed in on different corners of it to make it appear as if they were not as close together as it appeared.

The problem with showing these photos here on Blogspot however, is that now you can see ALL of the photograph. So before uploading these here, I had to crop them, these are the pre-cropped images.

That B.A.T. on the hover sleds was placed next to Snarler to give the illusion he had walked further away from the Cobra Bugg then he actually did. Again, this would have been cut off on Instagram, so it's funny to see it here where he's literally like 4 inches away from them.

This story arc will continue throughout the series, and every so often we come back to it and see what exactly Cobra Commander and Snarler are trying to do...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 35: "To go boldly..."

Man a LOT of time has lapsed between putting new episodes of the comic up hasn't it?  Episode 34 debuted on July 7th 2022 and episode 35 wouldn't debut until December 31st 2022- and exactly thirty minutes from midnight to boot!  Alot of insanity has cropped up in my personal life prohibiting me from doing more photo shoots and progressing the story as I wanted it to, but from chaos comes order (so to speak). Episode 35 is monumental because it's the start of a new concurrent story arc that will be taking place parallel to the " The Rescue of Deep Six " story arc I've been showing since 2021.  I'm really enjoying this other story arc and I hope you all well too. As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and check after the last photo for some more Director's commentary! Okay fun Fact? I totally didn't remember that the first episode of this series was titled "To bodly go...", so it's rather appropriate that this ne...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 38: "Running Out of Time"

Hooray I'm being consecutive again!   This week's episode was another episode that was stuck in development limbo for over a year and I'm just proud of myself for taking the time to sit down and script this finally.  I'm just going to get right into the photo comic and wait for the Director's commentary afterwards to talk about everything. As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and enjoy! This episode features photos taken from 2021 and May of 2022 as I had gotten the "Decepticon" base set from Extreme Sets around that time. As I didn't have time to shoot the photos chronologically, I shot episode 33: "The Deep" at the same time as I snapped the photos for this episode and the next two episodes.  So for ME it's been rough to sit on these cool shots for almost a year and a half. I laughed when I got to this episode because this comic has been running for close to 2 and a half years and it took me 39 episodes until th...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 36: "Nervous Man in a Two Dollar Room"

This episode took so much time to finish and it irritated the hell out of me. Those last 3 panels I had gotten severe writers block on and I wasn't sure exactly how to end it.  More on why after the story, as usual click on each photo to expand it for easier reading and then look afterwards for Director's commentary! The title to this episode is a nod to an episode of The Twilight Zone, specifically "A Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room", the $2.00 refering to how much vintage G.I. Joes used to cost. This episode really stuck me at those last 3 panels. Episode 35 and 36 were both shot at a house in the mountains of Pennsylvania that belongs to the family of my wife's friend. As the kitchen wasn't updated since the 1970's, it makes for a really cool and vintage-looking set for the comic to take place in.  Part of the cause of my writer's block is I wasn't sure how long we would be staying here and didn't want to start a shoot here that would last...
