G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode : 15 "Arise, Destro, Arise!"

For some reason, self-contained episodes of G.I. Joe: 3.75 Division are fewer in number for me. I guess I just like telling larger stories and getting hampered with less photo space forces me to break them into multiple parts.

This episode was really rough for me to write and basically it just exists to provide some backstory to a future story arc idea that I had.

Check it out below and be sure to click each image to expand it for easier reading and then look at the director's commentary after the last photo.

Okay so here is the history with this episode. I shot all these photos on May 24th 2021, only a day after I shot Episode #1 of this series.

At that time, the plan was a very G.I.Joe centered photo comic set in the Secret World of Toyeboxia RPG universe with very little non-Joe toys showing up at all.

I had no real plans for these photos, just a loose story with a group of roughly 10 Iron Grenadiers figures led by Darklon. They were hunting for an Iron Grenadiers Destro to lead them and finally found one.

The idea to make them kind of crazy came from me having NO IDEA what I wanted the dialgoue to be, so having them quote the old Iron Grenadiers toy commercial in a an almost insane and "cult-like" way was an easy fix.

Below is an alternate Panel 2 that for some reason I opted to change the dialgoue for some reason.

There were also another 5 panels that were cut for space. Alot of the dialgoue was easily mashed into a "Narrator's box" to keep the panel count below 11 panels. They are perfectly good shots, they just made it too long.

All those above shots were pretty consecutive too, basically it was Darklon talking to Destro after he was animated but still trapped inside the blister bubble. Darklon orders the Nullifier to get Destro out, he rushes to get a razor blade to free him. Like I said, 5 panels compressed into one narrative text bubble can save a LOT of space.

These next three short videos were shot within the universe but, again, they were cut for space and "run time". All of them are perfectly fine, it would have just made it too long.

Between all these cut photos and videos, there are about 18 panels worth of content. But using these would have meant trying to shoot 2 more panels for two even-numbered 10-panel episodes and I honestly had no use for a 3rd faction in the mix of this photo comic series.

This series was always intended to be about Captain Grid-Iron's team of Joes trying to survive and defeat Cobra Commander once and for all. Adding in Destro and his Iron Grenadiers was going to make it too messy, so these photos sat unused for months.

Then I had a great idea for them, but only needed 10 panels worth to set up who these toys are (stay tuned for the pay out on that).

Onto more uploads!

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 35: "To go boldly..."

Man a LOT of time has lapsed between putting new episodes of the comic up hasn't it?  Episode 34 debuted on July 7th 2022 and episode 35 wouldn't debut until December 31st 2022- and exactly thirty minutes from midnight to boot!  Alot of insanity has cropped up in my personal life prohibiting me from doing more photo shoots and progressing the story as I wanted it to, but from chaos comes order (so to speak). Episode 35 is monumental because it's the start of a new concurrent story arc that will be taking place parallel to the " The Rescue of Deep Six " story arc I've been showing since 2021.  I'm really enjoying this other story arc and I hope you all well too. As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and check after the last photo for some more Director's commentary! Okay fun Fact? I totally didn't remember that the first episode of this series was titled "To bodly go...", so it's rather appropriate that this ne...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 38: "Running Out of Time"

Hooray I'm being consecutive again!   This week's episode was another episode that was stuck in development limbo for over a year and I'm just proud of myself for taking the time to sit down and script this finally.  I'm just going to get right into the photo comic and wait for the Director's commentary afterwards to talk about everything. As usual, click the photos to enlarge them for easier viewing and enjoy! This episode features photos taken from 2021 and May of 2022 as I had gotten the "Decepticon" base set from Extreme Sets around that time. As I didn't have time to shoot the photos chronologically, I shot episode 33: "The Deep" at the same time as I snapped the photos for this episode and the next two episodes.  So for ME it's been rough to sit on these cool shots for almost a year and a half. I laughed when I got to this episode because this comic has been running for close to 2 and a half years and it took me 39 episodes until th...

G.I. Joe- 3.75 Division Episode 36: "Nervous Man in a Two Dollar Room"

This episode took so much time to finish and it irritated the hell out of me. Those last 3 panels I had gotten severe writers block on and I wasn't sure exactly how to end it.  More on why after the story, as usual click on each photo to expand it for easier reading and then look afterwards for Director's commentary! The title to this episode is a nod to an episode of The Twilight Zone, specifically "A Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room", the $2.00 refering to how much vintage G.I. Joes used to cost. This episode really stuck me at those last 3 panels. Episode 35 and 36 were both shot at a house in the mountains of Pennsylvania that belongs to the family of my wife's friend. As the kitchen wasn't updated since the 1970's, it makes for a really cool and vintage-looking set for the comic to take place in.  Part of the cause of my writer's block is I wasn't sure how long we would be staying here and didn't want to start a shoot here that would last...
